Zatanna, a comic book character from DC Comics, may be the next heroine to win a live-action solo film at Warner Bros. Studios. Pictures.
Who gives the information is the website DCEU Mythic, who shares that “Warner Bros. is developing a film based on the character who wields magic, who casts spells in reverse.”
Although the news has not yet been confirmed or denied by Warner / DC, it is very likely to be true, since rumors have circulated since 2018 that Zatanna may have her own film in theaters, with her name mentioned alongside projects like the Supergirl and Batgirl solo features, which are already in development, although both have no release date.
Zatanna first appeared in comics in 1964, on the pages of Hawkman # 4, and is created by writer Gardner Fox and artist Murphy Anderson. Daughter of Zatara, this is a powerful magic that seeks to honor her father’s legacy as a mnemonic mantra. She was also a member of the Justice League.
The character has appeared in some animations and in the Smallville series, but it would be her highlight in a live-action. The Dark Justice League film, originally expected to be directed by Guillermo del Toro, also waited for his participation, but has been canceled.
On August 22, the DC FanDome digital event will take place, in which Warner Bros. must reveal his surprises and possibly plans for Zatanna’s likely film.
