Zachary Levi says he is happy that his character died in the MCU

Zachary Levi, Shazam! Interpreter, previously lived an Asgardian in the Marvel cinematic universe. But his character died in Thor: Ragnarok, and the actor commented on how he died gave him a chance to join DC.

“100%. Taika Waititi is such a talented director, and I was very happy to reprise the role of Fandral for at least a day in Ragnarok to work with him. And to see Chris [Hemsworth] again and several people who came back from the Dark World, and also, die at the hands of Cate Blanchett … If you are going to die, better die at the hands of Cate Blanchett. But yes, it was boring. I felt like ‘oh how cool, I’m going to be a superhero, I’m going to join the comics!’ and then I was not used and then I died. So it was kind of disappointing. Having said that, as you said, looking back, if I had not died in this film, there would have been a great chance that I would not have entered Shazam! because my contract would still be in effect at Marvel, and who knows. Suddenly I would be doing the test and they could say ‘no, we want to continue with you to put you here’, Thanos will snap his fingers and I would turn to dust later “.

Shazam is in the comics the young Billy Batson, who when saying the word “Shazam”, initials of Solomon, Hercules, Atlas, Zeus, Achilles and Mercury, transforms from a simple boy into an adult of superhuman strength and lightning powers . He has already demonstrated that he can fight side by side with Superman or even against him. The film is scheduled to debut in April 2019.
