Recently, Ansel Elgort was accused of sexually abusing a girl when she was still a minor and he was already 20 years old. In an open letter on Instagram, he denies the story, saying that everything was consensual.

Even with divided opinions, many people ask that the actor be replaced in West Side Story (Amor, Sublime Amor), a remake being directed by Steven Spielberg.

However, the film is already filmed and is expected to hit theaters in December this year and, with many projects still waiting in the face of the coronavirus pandemic, it would be difficult to schedule rewrites, in addition to the difficulties in reformulating a film that is already in its phase post-production. Therefore, it is unlikely that the star will be replaced, but not impossible:

All the Money in the World (2017) had Kevin Spacey accused of sexual assault shortly before the film’s debut, scheduled for December of that year. Ridley Scott maintained the film’s premiere in the same month, postponing it for only 3 days, and reworked the entire role with Christopher Plummer replacing Spacey, which had been announced just a month earlier, in November.

However, Spielberg has yet to comment on the case.
