Under Pressure, a medical drama series set in a Brazilian public hospital, has been renewed for two more seasons and its fourth year, to be released soon, will focus on the current coronavirus pandemic and the collapse it caused in the health system. The information is by Jorge Furtado and Lucas Paraizo, series writers.
Previous seasons announced the collapse of the health care system, but no one imagined that reality would become something so surprising. Now the dilemmas are intensifying. “, Comments Paraizo, according to Diário de Pernambuco.
However, it may still take a while for the new episodes to debut: the fourth season’s recordings, originally expected in the second half, have been postponed to 2021 due to preventive measures. Meanwhile, the writers will work on the necessary adjustments to the script so that the series embraces this very current theme.
“We know that we are going to address the topic of the pandemic, but we will follow the progression of reality beforehand”, comments Jorge Furtado, who studied medicine for four years. “We wanted to portray the heroic situation of SUS workers in a country in economic crisis, which cuts public health budgets. These are true heroes. A doctor in a health crisis like the one we are experiencing is much more useful than Batman “.
With three seasons aired so far, Under Pressure had its premiere in 2017 on Rede Globo and is expected to return to the station with unprecedented programming in 2021.
