There has been talk for years about a film adaptation of The Selection, the first book in the popular literary franchise of the same name written by Kiera Cass and published in Brazil by Editora Seguinte since 2012. However, the rumors never came out of the plans, at least so far.
It was reported last Friday, April 10, that Netflix is already working on the development of the long-awaited film inspired by The Selection.
According to the portal Sem Spoiler, the best profile of literary updates on Twitter, the direction will be Haifaa Al-Mansour, who has worked with the streaming platform previously, assuming the direction of Felicidade Por Um Fio.
The cast has not yet been released, but fans are already commenting on social media about their wishes – the name of Noah Centineo (For All the Boys I’ve Loved Before) came to be on Twitter’s highlights, with readers saying that do not want the popular actor in the film.
The Selection has sold more than 11 million copies worldwide. The book takes place in a dystopian future, in which 25 girls compete for the love of Prince Maxon. The protagonist is America Singer, who sometimes regrets leaving her life to participate in this competition, even as her passion for the prince increases.
The premiere for the feature has not yet been released.
