Pedro Pascal is the great star of The Mandalorian, but anyone who thinks that everything was planned in advance is mistaken: in a recent interview with Yahoo Movies UK, the actor revealed that he joined the cast in an hour.
When asked how he got involved with the production, Pascal comments:
“In the beginning, the most secret part was the first call. They said that Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni wanted to meet me to talk about” something from Star Wars. “Those were the words.
So, when I went to meet Jon, they took me to a room where the walls were covered, corner by corner, with illustrations of stories from the entire first season. It was obviously this incredible Star Wars story, with a Boba Fett-looking character at the center of most of it, and obviously the adorable little Baby Yoda.
The same day, they took me to the set where they were doing camera tests. They introduced me to Kathleen Kennedy, put the helmet on my head and Jon sent me six scripts to look at and get an idea. I may be putting him in trouble. The studio may not know this.
That was all to have an idea, to help me consider the project and also, at least from my perspective, for them to consider whose voice they wanted to hear coming from within that mask. They put me on paper, and when we get close to launching the first season while filming the second, now everything is very blocked to make sure nothing leaks. “
Meanwhile, the second season is expected to premiere in the last quarter of 2020 and the third part is already confirmed.
More details about the series’ backstage will be shown in Disney Gallery: The Mandalorian, which opens on May 4 at Disney +;
