The Lion King: live-action gets new spot

If you’re a fan of the 1994 animation, the live-action version of The Lion King is coming to make you cry – again!

This Thursday, May 30, a new promotional spot for the feature was released that mixes CGI and real footage. Check out the video:

According to the official synopsis, “Disney’s Lion King, directed by Jon Favreau, portrays a journey through the African savannah, where the future King of the Kingdom Stone, Simba is born. The little lion that idolizes his father, King Mufasa, is faithful to his destiny to assume the reign. But not everyone in the kingdom thinks the same way. Scar, brother of Mufasa and ex-heir to the throne, has his own plans. The battle for the Kingdom Stone is full of betrayal, tragic events and drama, which ends up resulting in Simba’s exile. With the help of two new and unusual friends, Simba will have to grow up and come back to recover what is rightfully his. “

The film also features a large cast of voices formed by Donald Glover as Simba, Beyoncé Knowles-Carter as Nala, James Earl Jones as Mufasa, Chiwetel Ejiofor as Scar, Seth Rogen as Pumbaa and Billy Eichner as Timão.

The premiere is expected for July 18, 2019.
