THE National Geographic announced today (27) that the documentary The Cave, nominated for an Oscar 2020, will debut in Brazil next week, on February 3rd.
The Cave has direction of Fayyad beasts.
The documentary tells the story of a war-torn Syria, where security and hope meet underground, in an underground hospital called The Cave. There, a young pediatrician, Dr. Amani Ballour, offers hope and treatment to sick and injured children and civilians in the Eastern Guta region.
In a patriarchal and conservative society that devalues women, Dr. Amani is often treated with hostility by men who refuse to see her as a skilled doctor. But she is not intimidated and within The Cave along with other women they have claimed their right to work on an equal footing with their male colleagues.
There, they risk their own lives to save patients and find ways to survive in a world of cruelty, injustice and suffering. For Dr. Amani and her colleagues Samaher and Dr. Alaa, the battle they are fighting for is not only for survival, but also for maintaining dreams and hopes for their country and for women.
