THE the 90’s has countless movie classics that are successful today. Who doesn’t remember Julia Roberts in a 1990 movie? Or the classic horror, from 1996. Or even the renowned animations produced by Disney – with great soundtracks – like, from 1992, from 1994, and in 1998, and many others.

The catalog of Netflix has many hits from the 90s available. They are great options for watching and time travel with lots of action, romance and comedy. Here, only a few of these successes have been selected that can be seen through the service.

Netflix: 12 classic 90s to watch

Netflix has the complete trilogy of the Steven Spielberg classic. How can we not remember the scenes of hungry dinosaurs and the tension of the characters? The first film, from 1993, begins with the history and presentation of the park with dinosaurs recreated through genetic engineering. But a failure during a walk in the place puts guests at risk.

In 1997, the second feature was released, which portrays other events in the park four years after the facts of the first film. The third, however, is only from 2001, ending the series based on the books of the American Michael Crichton.

Jurassic Park: The Dinosaur Park

It is impossible to forget the role of Tom Cruise, who plays secret agent Ethan Hunt. In the plot, the agent becomes a fugitive after the death of several members of his team in a failed operation. So, in search of clearing your name, put in place a detailed plan. In the Netflix catalog there are six films in the franchise, including the first film, from 1996.

Mission Impossible

In 1995, Robin Willians and Bonnie Hunt participated in the cast of this famous film. Through a game found in the attic, two children free a curious figure, Alan Parish, who was trapped in the game for decades. Together with him, however, they also release wild animals and various dangers they encounter during the game. The movie, available on Netflix, was a milestone and impressed generations with its adventure and fantasy scenes.

Jumanji

The 1997 film tells the story of Will Hunting – played by Matt Damon -, a tough-tempered young man who turns out to be a math whiz. Due to legal determination, he needs to undergo therapy, but he does not believe it will be effective until he meets analyst Sean Maguire, played by Robin Williams. The classic was scripted by Matt Damon and Ben Affleck, who also participates in the film.

Indomitable Genius

The 1995 feature takes place in Beverly Hills and, even 25 years later, the film is still a success among several generations. Cher is the daughter of a very wealthy lawyer and spends most of her time shopping and talking to her friends. But everything changes when Josh, his father’s stepson, arrives at his house. The boy surprises her with his critical view because of his spoiled way and a turnaround in the girl’s life takes place.

The Beverly Hills Patrons

Bianca and Katharina are two sisters with totally opposite personalities. The demanding father determines that they can only go out together and the youngest, Bianca, can only date since Kat dates too. But this becomes a challenge, as the girl does everything to keep any suitor away.

Thus, two boys in love with Bianca plot a plan to be able to beat the ‘vixen’: they hire Patrick Verona, a daring boy, to conquer Katharina and get to date his sister. But not everything goes as planned. The 1999 romantic comedy has Heath Ledger and Julia Stiles in the cast and marked generations with scenes of love and hate between the protagonists.

10 Things I Hate About You

Available on Netflix, the 1994 feature won a total of 38 awards, including 6 Oscar statuettes, including ‘Best Picture’, ‘Best Adapted Screenplay’ and ‘Best Actor’ for Tom Hanks.

In the film, Forrest was always considered to be an average boy, but despite this, he witnessed several moments closely. Surprisingly, Gump tells forty years of the history of the United States, like the Vietnam War very naturally and always showing important moments in his life.

Forrest Gump: The Storyteller

In the 1990 drama, Demi Moore is Molly Jensen and Patrick Swayze is Sam Wheat, a couple in love who are separated after an attack in which Sam is killed. However, her spirit remains helping Molly, who is in danger of being killed. And so, in order to communicate, they turn to Oda Mae Brown, a medium who can hear him.

The film won the Oscar for ‘Best Original Screenplay’ and ‘Best Supporting Actress’ for Whoopi Goldberg, who plays the medium.

Ghost across the life

Netflix does not have all of the Disney animation classics that were successful in the 90s. However, the first three features of the series are available. The first film, from 1995, features the boy Andy and his beloved toys. In the plot, the boy’s birthday is near and the toys fear that a gift may replace him. With a simple plot, the film draws attention for the adventures of toys and for the examples of friendship it conveys.

Faced with such success, in 1999, the second film was released, with more toys and challenges. After years, in 2010, the third film was released, and the latest and most recent is the fourth, of 2019.

Toy Story

At just six years old, Matilda, played by actress Mara Wilson, is a brilliant child who grew up in a family where she was always ignored. After a long time, she is sent to school, but the principal is hard line. The girl has a fertile imagination and knowledge that surprises, soon she discovers that she has magical powers. So, amid adventures and discoveries, the little girl meets the sweet teacher Honey, from whom she receives help in her ideas.

Matilda

In 1999, the little mouse Stuart Little won the hearts of many families. The film tells the story of an abandoned rat that lived in an orphanage until the Little ones decide to adopt him. They fall in love with the charisma and personality of the new family member. From then on, Stuart has a series of challenges ahead and one of them will be dealing with the family cat: Snowbell. The film, available on Netflix, delights children, youth and adults with its characters and the adventures of the Little family.

Stuart Little

Gwyneth Paltrow, Brad Pitt and Morgan Freeman act in this 1995 film, by American director David Fincher. In the plot, detective William Somerset, almost retired, and young David Mills are in charge of a dangerous investigation into a serial killer. However, he kills his victims according to the seven deadly sins: pride, greed, gluttony, lust, laziness, envy and anger.
