Sonic – The Movie, which was widely criticized even before its premiere, proved to be a real success: the film has just received the highest grossing title for a movie adapted from video games in theaters in the United States, even surpassing the collections. by Detective Pikachu (2019).

The new film also leaves behind releases such as Tomb Raider: The Origin (2018) and Angry Birds (2016).

In the US alone, Sonic has already grossed $ 145.8 million at the box office. Worldwide, despite the entertainment crisis caused by the coronavirus pandemic, the film has already grossed $ 306.5 million.

The initial criticisms of the feature were mainly regarding the design originally thought for the title character, which did not please fans. Paramount accepted the criticism and changed the characterization of Sonic to something closer to the look already known to the fans of the games, and with the release of the film in theaters, viewers were also very satisfied by the narrative.

Synopsis: In this live-action adventure comedy, Sonic and his new best friend Tom (James Marsden) must unite to defend the planet from the evil genius Dr. Robotnik (Jim Carrey) and his plans for total domination.

The Brazilian dubbing of the character is by Manolo Rey, beloved for the Spider-Man trilogy with Tobey Maguire and for the voice of Will Smith in the series Um Maluco no Pedaço, among others.
