Guardians of the Galaxy saga director James Gunn, fired by Disney in partnership with Marvel, could be reinstated, according to Variety, which it says has anonymous sources.
“Sources say there is a growing feeling that Gunn could be rehired, especially since Marvel and Disney are silent about who could replace him since his resignation. Production is scheduled for early 2019, and after the resignation of Gunn from the movie, Disney and Marvel need to act fast to replace him, because the new person would need to review the script.
With Walt Disney President Bob Iger, currently on vacation, insiders say a decision should not be made until he gets back to work. “
Understand the case:
The director had made old tweets with jokes that talked about rape, pedophilia and other controversial topics.
Gunn spoke up apologizing and claiming that he had changed: “Many people who have followed my career from the beginning know that I saw myself as a provocative person, making films and telling jokes about outrageous topics and taboos. As I’ve spoken openly before, I developed as a person, as well as in my job and in my mood! I am someone quite different. Anyway, this is the truth: I used to make offensive jokes. I don’t do it anymore. I don’t judge my past attitudes, but I have become a better person. “.
In Gunn’s resignation statement, Disney stated: “The offensive attitudes and statements discovered on James’s Twitter are unjustifiable and inconsistent with the studio’s values, so we ended our professional relationship with him.”
