The rumors became true: it was confirmed last night, May 16, that actor Robert Pattinson was hired by Warner Bros. to star in The Batman, Matt Reeves’ new film due to be released in 2021. The information is from Variety and has been confirmed by Warner Channel.
Filming was expected to begin later this year, in the second half of 2019, but changes to the script could delay the plot.
The film was originally starring Ben Affleck, who has already presented us his role as Batman in the films Batman vs Superman: The Origin of Justice (2016) and Justice League (2017), but abandoned the Warner boat and should not return to the bat role.
The vacancy was open for several months until the inauguration of Robert Pattinson, who takes on the mantle of the Gotham Bat and consolidates the rumors started at the beginning of the year – and, at the time, vetoed, was confirmed.
The star is mainly remembered for his work as Edward Cullen in the Twilight saga, which began in 2008, but his filmography includes films of the most varied genres and acclaimed by the media, such as Água para Elefantes (2011), Souvenirs (2009) and Bom Comportamento (2017 ).
The film is expected to premiere in 2021.
