What many fans already expected has just been confirmed: in a recent interview with the TVLine portal, executive producer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa says that Riverdale will take a significant time jump at the beginning of its fifth season, still in development, but already confirmed to happen.
“We were talking and planning to take a leap in time and of course, usually the jumps happen between seasons, because there is a provocation at the end”, comments Aguirre-Sacasa.
The initial idea was to do it in the last episodes of the fourth season, but the coronavirus pandemic took everyone by surprise and the season needed to find its ending sooner. Now, it’s for the beginning of the next one.
The producer explains: “It looks like we’re going to start with the last three episodes [que foram deixados de fora da temporada anterior devido à pandemia]. So, what we’re doing is picking up exactly where we left off in the first three episodes and then taking a leap in time … after those three episodes. “
That is, the fifth season of Riverdale should find its time jump in the fourth episode.
Madchen Amick, who plays Betty’s mother, Alice Cooper, also spoke with TVLine about the time jump in a previous interview:
“I don’t know what they planned [para a 5ª temporada], but I can only imagine that something is going on to bring them back to the city. If they all go to these different colleges, I think they’ve planned a time jump, something that will bring them back. So, what is this, who knows? But something clearly will bring all of our favorite characters back to the city and involved in some exciting new adventure, I’m sure. ”
