Reese Whiterspoon producer will adapt book Um Lugar Far Far From Here on film!

The actress’s producer Reese Whiterspoon had bought the rights to the book Where the Crawdads Sing some time ago and would turn into a film.

And today (11), the Deadline reports that the Hello Sunshine and 3000 Pictures, a new stamp from Sony Pictures, reached an agreement for the adaptation of the Delia Owens launched in 2018, and hired a scriptwriter to write the project’s first script.

Lucy Alibar will take care of the script.

Launched in Brazil with the title of A Place Far Away From Here, in the plot follows Kya Clark, the “Brejo Girl”, who for years has seen some rumors about her haunt Barkley Cove, a quiet coastal town in North Carolina.

She, however, is not what everyone says.

Sensible and intelligent, Kya survived for years alone in the swamp she calls home, with the seagulls as friends and the sand as a teacher. Abandoned by her mother, who was unable to endure her abusive and alcoholic husband, and later by her brothers, the girl lived for some time in the negligent and sometimes brutal company of her father, who also ended up leaving her.

Years later, when two young men from the city are intrigued by her wild beauty, Kya allows herself to experience a new life – until the unthinkable happens and one of them is found dead.

At the same time an ode to nature, an exciting educational novel and an amazing mystery story, A place far away from here recalls that we are shaped by the child that we once were and that we are all subject to the beauty and violence of the secrets that nature keeps.

The book was launched in 2019 in Brazil by Intrinsic.
