Peggy Carter could become Captain America

Charlie Cox talks about clashes between Matt Murdock and Elektra

In Captain America: Civil War, Hayley Atwell’s character Agent Carter passed away at an advanced age, but thanks to the fantastic elements of comic book narratives, Peggy Carter can return to become the “new Captain America”.

The May editions of the Exiles comics will feature Peggy taking over as Captain America. These comics join forces from different realities from across the multiverse to correct problems, so any reunions and training are valid. According to Entertainment Weekly, Saladin Ahmed and Javier Rodriguez, writers and artists responsible for the story, were inspired by the Marvel Puzzle Quest game, in which Peggy is Captain America.

In the reality of the game, Steve Rogers was killed before taking on the hero’s uniform, and Peggy offers to join the project. As he already has the necessary skills, he overcomes the dangers of the serum and takes over.

With that, it is likely that Peggy will also be able to return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, since it is valid to state that Chris Evans’ Steve Rogers may be close to death. The main guesses for the new Captain America have always been Bucky or Falcon, but Peggy can also be a good option – even though dead in theaters, the comics prove that all actions can be undone someday. Even more with the Stone of Time at stake.

All of this, however, is nothing more than speculation.

What we do know for sure is that Hayley Atwell talked about her desire to act in a Peggy Carter solo film and recently was shy when asked if we would see her character again at MCU.

While none of these options are happening, you can watch Avengers: Infinity War in theaters starting next week, scheduled to open on April 26. Watch the trailer below:
