Wonder Woman 1984, expected to hit theaters later this year, will have two villains: Cheetah and Maxwell Lord, played by Kristin Wiig and Pedro Pascal respectively.
This type of narrative is not so common and Patty Jenkins, the film’s director and screenwriter, explained why in a recent interview with Total Film. She says:
It happened that history was what gave rise to the need for both. Not that I thought I needed both. Cheetah was the villain we were focused on having in this film, but Max Lord, throughout the history of Wonder Woman comics – he serves a very mechanical purpose, often.
Thus, it is correct to say that things happened naturally during the film’s development process. Even more being an initiative that came from Jenkins, which is linked to the current film franchise of Wonder Woman since the launch of the first film in 2017.
And if everything goes according to plan, Wonder Woman 1984 opens in theaters in Brazil on August 13, 2020. Check out the trailer:
It is worth remembering that the film was originally expected to open on Thursday, June 4, but it had to be postponed in the face of the coronavirus pandemic.
