Outsider: Stephen King’s book to be adapted for HBO series

Outsider to be adapted for series on HBO

Outsider is one of the latest literary releases by Stephen King, a renowned author known to the public as the master of horror. Launched in May 2018 and published in Brazil by Editora Suma, seal of Companhia das Letras, the work had its adaptation rights recently purchased by HBO, home broadcaster of the popular Game of Thrones series.

According to a company statement, King’s book will be adapted in a serial format to star Ben Mendelsohn, known for roles in Rogue One and Captain Marvel. Media Rights Capital, producer of House of Cards, will be working on this new production under the script of Richard Price (The Wire). The first season is expected to have 10 episodes. Jason Bateman (Ozark) will be the executive producer and director of the first episodes of the plot. Stephen King can join the production team, although nothing has been decided yet.

In the work, the body of an eleven-year-old boy is found brutally murdered. Children’s baseball league coach Terry Maitland, English teacher, married and father of two daughters is named as the prime suspect. He is released with an alibi, but the story is just beginning and, with a lot of tension and suspense, masks will be dropped: is Terry Maitland an innocent or a fake?
