At the end of last year it was announced that the iconic series teen 90210 – Barred at the Ball would win a new (and third!) version.
With the title of Beverly Hills 90210, the series aired in the USA in the 1990s and followed conflicts, tragedies, romances and dilemmas of a group of young people who lived in the wealthy and elite of Beverly Hills and attended high school at the local school. The show aired its last episode in the 2000s, after having a spin off called Melrose Place.
In 2008, the American channel The CW, announced, 90210 a new version that aired until 2013. The series was starring the actresses AnnaLynne McCord, Shenae Grimes and Jessica Stroup, where actresses, Tori Spelling, Shannen Doherty and Jennie Garth, returned in the original papers as Donna Martin, Brenda Walsh and Kelly Talyor. The new version lasted 5 seasons and was canceled due to low ratings.
In December 2018, it was announced that actors from the original series had come together to work on a project to get the series back on air. It was not known whether it was going to be a new version (with new actors) or a continuation of the original series with the characters already adults.
But now, the TVline website reported that the idea is to create a one-hour show, in the style mockumentary, that is, a program that imitates a real documentary with a more comical air (like the series, 30 Rock, The Office, Parks and Recreation and Modern Family), where the original cast would try to come together and create a new series 90210.
Thus, the actors Jennie Garth, Jason Priestley, Tori Spelling, Ian Ziering, Brian Austin Green and Gabrielle Carteris would play, in this new series, versions of themselves while they would try to come up with a way to bring the show back. Well goal, right?
According to the publication, the project is already interested in American TV channels and the streaming platform, but is still in a pre-development phase.
