It was recently announced that Netflix will produce a new anime based on Ghost in the Shell, a popular ’90s animation that has recently been revived in Hollywood live-action.
Ghost in the Shell: SAC_2045 will be directed by Shinji Aramaki and Kenji Kamiyama, with Production IG studios, from the original animation, and in partnership with SOLA DIGITAL ARTS. The animation will be in 3DCG and a show of the main character has already been revealed:
The streaming platform seems to be interested in remakes and reboots of Japanese animations: a new version of Knights of the Zodiac is also in development and is expected to be released in early 2019.
Ghost in the Shell, in turn, should take a little longer, but its premiere is predicted for the second half of 2019. In Brazil, it is possible to check the original film through Netflix with audio options in Japanese or Portuguese.
In the dystopian plot, humanity is experiencing a great technological evolution in which humans and cyborgs live together not so peacefully, potentiating inequalities. In this scenario, the cyborg Major Makoto Kusanagi has the mission to solve cyber crimes, but her human side will bring her many reflections on the true meaning of life.
