Two rising stars in today’s sci-fi cinema will team up to star in a new film of the genre: we are on the side of John Boyega, star of the most recent Star Wars trilogy, and Letitia Wright, featured in the Marvel Cinematic Universe for Black Panther and Avengers : Infinite War.
The new plot will be Hold Back the Stars, an indie science fiction novel. Boyega’s participation was confirmed by the actor himself on his personal Instagram, in which he describes the film as “a love story with a powerful message”.
The film is based on Katie Khan’s eponymous book, Hold Back the Stars and tells the story of Carys and Max, who were stranded on a ship adrift in space and have just over 90 minutes of oxygen. In this time, they will revisit memories of their romantic life in a utopian Earth and fight with claws and teeth for the last chance of salvation.
The direction is under the responsibility of Mike Cahill, while Christy Hall does the script. There is still no studio to sign for the production, but the big names in the main cast will catch the attention of big names.
There is no preview yet. Meanwhile, Wright and Boyega return to theaters next year with Avengers 4 and Star Wars: Episode IX, respectively.
