Kyoto Animation studio headquarters hit by fire

According to information from the state TV station NHK, a major fire hit the headquarters of the Kyoto Animation and according to preliminary information it left dozens of people injured and with 33 confirmed deaths so far. The Fire Department confirmed that around 10:35 am (10:35 pm on the 17th, Brasília time), several people who live close to the studio called to inform about the smoke that was hitting the region.

Kyoto Animation is perhaps one of the most popular studios in the anime segment, among the studio’s animations we have Violet Evergarden, K-ON !, Clannad, The Voice of Silence, Hibike! Euphonium and others. The studio was currently working on adapting 20 Seiki Denki Mokuroku 20 (20th Century Electricity Catalog), a novel that also belongs to the group and is authored by Hiroshi Yuuki and illustrated by Kazumi Ikeda.

Still according to witnesses, the fire may have been criminal. It was reported that a man was carrying what appeared to be gasoline with him and spreading the liquid, setting fire to it shortly thereafter. The police took the suspect into custody to collect his testimony.

Kyoto Animation was founded in 1981, headquartered in the city of Uji located in the Kyoto region of Japan and has approximately 160 employees.

It is unfortunate what happened to these people and the studio and it is extremely painful to write about it. We at ArrobaNerd are praying for the victims who worked at the scene at the time of the incident, just as our hearts are with the relatives of these people.
