Lili Reinhart is known today for her ponytail as Betty Cooper in Riverdale, but the choice of actress was almost another and we could have seen Kiernan Shipka, the new Sabrina, from Sabrina’s Dark World, on paper.
According to information from Entertainment Weekly, Shipka had originally been considered for the role of Betty by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, showrunner for both Riverdale and Sabrina’s Dark World. He comments: “Kiernan was iconic in Mad Men, and I even thought of her like ‘Oh, it will be if she would make a Betty”, but ended up opting for another actress, even without taking her out of her sights, focusing on her next production.
“When [O Mundo Sombrio de Sabrina] migrated from CW to Netflix, our casting director David Rapaport asked if ‘is this something Kiernan might be interested in?’, and there was no script at the time, but from what he said, for me it was like, ‘okay , so she’s Sabrina, I’m going to write this to Kiernan. “
He continues, stating that she was “the right actress at the right age, at the right point in her career, who was ready for the challenge”. We will be able to see the result of her choice from October 26, on Netflix, with her debut of the 10 episodes of the first season of the series – which, by the way, is already recording its second season, also expected to have ten episodes.
