Jurassic World: Dominion, the third film in the new Jurassic Park franchise, had its production interrupted due to the coronavirus pandemic, the star Sam Neill, who returns from the original films for the first time, did not fail to speak about what is happening in the project and how it is dealing with the situation.
Read the translation of his long and intimate letter:
“Suddenly, here we are. We were cryogenically frozen, and Jurassic World: Dominion is on hold. Amber insects. And like just about every actor in the world right now, I’m not working. Damn it. But we will return. We will. And what a joy it will be to go back to the set, do what I love most, with just the kind of people I love: other actors and all the extraordinary people needed to make a film. That rare privilege. And to put things in perspective – there are many things worse than a suspended movie.
So, what to do in the meantime? Most importantly, of course – stay at home. And I find myself surprisingly busy there. The fact is, most of the time, at work, you spend a good day staring at a trailer wall.
Instead, here I am taking care of all the things that I am usually too busy to take care of. I’m playing my uke. I’m singing. I’m talking to my friends. I am intimately involved in raising my grandchildren, 2000 miles away. I am rediscovering poetry. I put silly things on social media to encourage people, to cheer them up with a message. I am happy to iron my shirts and polish a silver tray an inch from your life. I’m reading great novels that I never opened. I planted a bush. There is beauty in everyday life.
I keep myself informed, of course I do. I speak daily with the employees of my vineyards [não posso voltar para a Nova Zelândia, as fronteiras estão fechadas]. I paid attention to the warnings. But I stopped watching the news. This is the most serious moment of my life, I don’t doubt that. But the growing anxiety you get from all the high graphics, the background music laden with misfortunes, the press conferences rampant; none of this was helping. And I feel so much better without it all.
It is ironic that the most useful thing that those who are not essential can do now [e eu nunca conheci um ator essencial] it’s just staying at home and being… away from other people. We are in this together, but we are better apart.
… I still miss going to work. “
In short, Neill is quarantined in his home and has been looking for ways to keep himself busy, chatting with fans on the internet, reading, singing and taking care of his garden, while still communicating with his grandchildren at a distance, separated by about 3 thousand kilometers and, despite being busy with his new daily tasks, he misses the work on the sets.
It is not yet known if the pause in the production of the film will interfere with its release date, expected for June 11, 2021.
