The writer JK Rowling, creator of the Harry Potter franchise, announced that she will release free chapters of her newest children’s book, called The Ickabog. The measure is a way to help children during the current social isolation imposed by the coronavirus pandemic.
On her website, the writer revealed small details about the tale, which she says is aimed at children between 7 and 9 years old.
“The idea for The Ickabog came up when I was still writing Harry Potter. I managed to write a first version and it starts among the Harry Potter books. I planned to release it after Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, ”said Rowling.
“The Ickabog is a story about truth and abuse of power. The idea came about a decade ago, so it shouldn’t be read as a response to what’s going on in the world right now. Its themes are timeless and can be used for any time or country ”, added the writer.
JK Rowling revealed that she did not publish the book because she wanted to take a break after finishing writing Harry Potter. In addition, when he returned to active duty, he chose to focus on works for the adult audience.
The Ickabog chapters will be released every day, between Tuesday (26th) and July 10th. At first, the work is only available in English, but the writer revealed that translations into other languages should be released soon.
