Helen Mirren emerges as Russian Empress Catherine the Great in HBO miniseries trailer!

THE HBO released the first trailer for Catherine the Great your next miniseries. The Oscar winner, Helen Mirren acts as the Russian Empress Catherine the Great!

Announced earlier this year, Catherine the Great will be a 4-part miniseries that the channel where we will have actress Mirren as Caterina II that ruled Russia between the years 1762 until 1796.

The drama will explore the last years of the reign of the most powerful Russian monarch, which were marked by being politically tumultuous due to the territorial expansion of the Russian Empire and of course with the court that was quite sexually liberal and supportive of arts, culture and literature.

The plot will focus on the last moments of the reign and the love affair of the Empress with Marshal Gregory Potemkin (not yet cast), both have a long-term relationship, but have never been able to publicly assume the relationship.

The HBO production will tell a story of love and obsession and show details of the relationship between the two and how Catarina managed to increase Russian influence in the world and of course conquer new territories for the Empire.

Catherine the Great will have roadmaps Nigel Williams, who worked with HBO and Mirren on the mini-series Elizabeth I that HBO launched in 2005, direction of Philip Martin and arrives at HBO now at the end of the year.
