HBO MAX recently announced that it is developing a new spin-off series, still unnamed, that promises to expand the universe of The Batman, a new cinematic release that marks Robert Pattinson’s debut on paper.
The production is the work of Batman director and co-writer Matt Reeves, in conjunction with Terence Winter, creator of the Boardwalk Empire. The series is expected to introduce the Gotham City police department, and will apparently be based on the Gotham Central series.
However, new information suggests that it will be more than a new series, but the beginning of a shared universe centered on Batman and other characters and elements that surround him.
According to the press release, the series will also launch the aforementioned shared universe “across platforms”, but more details, such as which characters will be part of the franchise, have not yet been given to the public.
There is still the possibility of several spin-offs based on the villains of the movie The Batman, as reported last year by Warner Bros. and DC Films.
The film, in turn, hits theaters in the United States on October 1, 2021.
