HBO announces Watchmen premiere date and releases new trailer!

Confirmed! THE HBO announced today (3) that the long-awaited series Watchmen arrives on the channel on October 20th!

Created by Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons, the comics of Watchmen take place in an alternative reality where superheroes are more vigilant than heroes.

The story follows characters who need to unravel a conspiracy while investigating the death of a colleague.

In Watchmen we will follow an alternative story where “superheroes” are treated as outlaws, so the series will embrace the graphic novel’s original nostalgia, while trying to break new rules by itself. As Lindelof announced in a letter to fans, the series is not an adaptation of the 12 editions of the comics, but an original story that mixes with them.

The project headed by Jeremy Irons, Regina King, Don Johnson, Tim Blake Nelson and Louis Gossett Jr, still counts in its cast with Adelaide Clemens, Andrew Howard, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Tom Mison, Frances Fisher, Jacob Ming-Trent, Sara Vickers, Dylan Schombing, Lily Rose Smith and Adelynn Spoon.

The comics of Watchmen have already been adapted for the cinema and launched in 2009 with direction of Zack Snyder where the main cast was composed of Malin Åkerman, Billy Crudup, Matthew Goode, Jackie Earle Haley, Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Patrick Wilson.
