Today (15), the film () will be shown on Afternoon session, from Rede Globo. The success of 2016 is driven by Kirk Jones and shows how the Ian Miller couple is doing (John Corbett) and Toula Portokalos (Nia Vardalos), fourteen years after the first film.
The first film tells the story of Toula Portokalos (Vardalos), a 30-year-old Greek girl who works at the family restaurant. Toula starts taking a computer course, where he ends up meeting and falling in love with Ian Miller (Corbett).
Since Ian is English, Toula’s family, who is Greek, would not accept the romance, so they decide to keep their relationship a secret. However, the relationship ends up being discovered and soon a cultural conflict is installed. Ian then needs to adapt to Greek traditions in order to be accepted into the family.
Em, Toula and Ian remain together and spend a lot of time trying to understand the troubled teenage daughter, Paris (Elena Kampouris). When everyone finds out that Toula’s parents’ union has never been made official by religion, all Portokalos get together for yet another great Greek wedding.
