Naya Rivera, a 33-year-old actress known primarily for her role as Santana on the Glee series, is missing.

Reports released by the American media this morning on Thursday, July 9, reveal that the celebrity disappeared after a trip to Lake Piru, California, with her four-year-old son.

Authorities were called on Wednesday night after a four-year-old boy was found alone in a rented boat that floated across the lake. The child was revealed as the son of Naya Rivera, who had been with him before, but disappeared between 1 pm and 4 pm on Wednesday.

According to reports released by the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department, Rivera rented the boat at around 1 pm and three hours later, the boy was found alone by another sailor. The search was started immediately, using helicopters, drones and divers.

The child, unharmed, said he and his mother were swimming, but she never went back to the boat. Authorities are working to connect the boy to someone else while the search for Naya Rivera continues.

The news gained momentum around 2 am in Brasília time and Harry Shum Jr, who was Naya’s castmate on Glee, posted on his Twitter profile that he says he is praying that the actress will be found.

Demi Lovato, Naya’s friend and co-worker who was her romantic partner during some episodes of Glee, used Instagram to ask for prayers so that Rivera could be found safely.

For now, the department of Ventura says the operation was suspended during the night and the search will resume in the morning.
