The last season of Game of Thrones is bloody and its fifth episode, the penultimate of the entire franchise, resulted in several deaths of important characters with the arrival of Daenerys to Porto Real, set on fire by the Queen of Dragons.

In addition to the many innocent soldiers and civilians who died in battle or in flight from the flames, check out the main deaths of the episode:

Lord Varys: The Master of Whispers of Daenerys was condemned by herself for treason after trying to convince Tyrion Lannister, Hand of the Queen, that she would not be in a position to take the Throne, mad. Before dying incinerated by Drogon’s flames, he leaves a letter revealing Jon Snow’s secret.

Euron Greyjoy: in a fierce battle with Jaime, the two almost came out dead, but Lannister managed to get away and leave Greyjoy mortally wounded.

Sandor and Gregor Clegane: Hound Dog, after convincing Arya to give up on Cersei, goes to meet the hitherto possessed of the Throne and ends up in a clash with Mountain, her brother. Very wounded and with a practically invincible brother, he decides to sacrifice himself to see him dead, and throws himself from the fortress with Gregor, falling directly into the fire that dominated Porto Real after a tiring battle. Qyburn also died in this clash, injured by Montanha.

Jaime and Cersei Lannister: Cersei manages to escape the fight between the Clegane brothers alive, but not with much luck. Shaken and with emotions running high, wanting to survive at all costs, for herself and the child she carries in her womb, she meets Jaime after he kills Greyjoy and they both try to escape together, but without success. The Red Fortress falls on the two of them and both die buried, putting an end to Cersei’s despair and tears – as well as to his power.

With Cersei out of the game, the long-awaited political dispute over the ownership of the Iron Throne remains for the last episode.

Daenerys is maddened and has shown that she will do anything for the Throne, no matter what the cost, but her faithful follower Jon Snow no longer seems to be so convinced that the Queen of Dragons will be a good choice to dominate The Seven Kingdoms after her excessive actions that they cost the lives of thousands of innocents in Porto Real, intensifying the dispute.

The last and long awaited episode will air next Sunday, May 19, on HBO and HBO GO.
