THE FOX Premium, responsible for the exclusive rights to broadcast the series in Latin America, released the first official image of the expected sequel The New Pope. The photo features the two Academy Award® nominees Jude Law and John Malkovich in their high clergy clothes.
After an excellent reception to the first season of The Young Pope, available completely and exclusively in Brazil and Latin America on the FOX App, the eight new episodes that make up The New Pope are in the production stage under the direction of the Academy Award® winner Paolo Sorrentino, responsible for, among other productions, The Great Beauty (2013) and The Young Pope (2016).
The cast of The New Pope it is led again by Jude Law and adds to the talented John Malkovich (“In the line of fire” / “Places in the heart”) for the new season. In addition, the Peruvian returns Ramón García, the Italians Silvio Orlando (“El Caimán”) and Maurizio Lombardi (“Dov’è Mario?”); the Spanish Javier Cámara (“Talk to her”); the Belgian Cécile de France (“Beyond life”) and the French Ludvine Sagnier (“Swimming Pool”). Among the new faces of the cast, stand out Henry Goodman, Ulrich Thomsen, Mark Ivanir and Massimo Ghini.
The New Pope has a script by Paolo Sorrentino with Umberto Contarello and Stefano Bises, and this is Sorrentino’s second limited series focused on the modern world.
Shortly after confirming the new series of the controversial saga and even before filming began, the FOX Premium announced in May 2017 the acquisition of exclusive emission rights for Latin America of The New Pope. The ten hour-long episodes of its predecessor are available exclusively on the FOX App for subscribers to the FOX + and FOX Premium packages. The new series may also be serviced in the future.
