Festival de Cannes releases list of films that will be part of the competition in the 72nd edition!

After confirming The Dead Don’t Die as an opening film, the Festival de Cannes released today (18) the complete list of films that will be part of this year’s competition.

The 72nd of Cannes Festival it happens now in May between days 14 to 25 and many productions are shown for the first time there. The event also serves for films to be sold to distributors worldwide and Cannes is also known for premiere gala where the studios take their artists to parade on the red carpets.

The list of films released by the Festival organization is divided into three types:

Films that will be shown at the Festival and participate in the competition for Palme d’Or who in 2018 got the film Family Subject, nominated for an Oscar in the category Best Foreign Film.

In this category it is like a competition parallel to the Festival itself, where 20 films compete with each other. They are usually smaller films, more authoritative and with a different theme from the productions that dispute the In Competition. In 2018, the film Border ltook the prize.

These are films that are not participating in any dispute and will only be shown at the Festival. This year, the feature Rocketman will be shown together with the film Diego Maradona.

We still have the categories of Midnight Screening and Special Screening which are film screenings throughout the Festival. Cannes also awards documentaries and shorts.
