1. ‘Hakuna Matata’ – (1994)

Played by Elton John and written by Tim Rice, the song was nominated for an Oscar for Best Original Song in 1995. However, it lost to another song from the same film, sung by Elton John himself:.

It was ranked 98th in a ranking of the 100 Best Music Movies, according to the American Film Institute.

Directed by Roger Allers and Rob Minkoff, the film tells the story of the lion Simba, heir to his father Mufasa. After his father’s death, elaborated by his uncle Scar, Simba escapes. Years later, he reappears in his kingdom to gain his right to reign.

2. ‘A Whole New World’ – (1992)

Winner of the Oscar for Best Original Song in 1993, this song was also written by Tim Rice, and was composed by Alan Menken. The singers are Peabo Bryson and Regina Belle.

In the film, the protagonist who gives the film its name unleashes the genie of the lamp and has his requests granted. However, some problematic situations, like Ja’Far, prevent you from enjoying all your dreams, one of them being Princess Jasmine.

3. ‘Under The Sea’ – (1989)

Composed by Alan Menken, written by Howard Ashman and sung by Samuel E. Wright, the song won the Oscar for Best Original Song in 1990, in addition to a Golden Globe and a Grammy.

In the movie , Ariel is a 16 year old princess mermaid curious about the world above the sea. She turns into a human to win a prince, but a deal she made with the witch Ursula leaves Ariel in a risky situation.

4. ‘You’ll Be In My Heart’ – (1999)

Written, produced and sung by Phil Colins, this song won the Oscar and Golden Globe Award for Best Original Song, in addition to being nominated for a Grammy.

In the film, for which it was composed, a baby loses his parents in the jungle. Raised by gorillas, Tarzan grows up acting like primates, and when researchers arrive in the jungle, he realizes that he looks like them, including falling in love with Jane.

The work is directed by Chris Buck and Kevin Lima.

5. ‘Let It Go’ – (2013)

Composed by Kristina Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez, it was played, in the film, by Idina Menzel, although Demi Lovato’s version also became popular. He won the Oscar for Best Original Song in 2014.

tells the story of Elsa and Anna, two sisters who, after the death of their parents, are inseparable. However, Elsa’s discovery of a power causes Arendelle’s kingdom to freeze. With that, Anna, accompanied by ice seller Kristoff and her moose Sven, in addition to the talking snowman Olaf, needs to find her sister so that the curse is broken.

Directed by Jennifer Lee and Chris Buck, it won the Oscar for Best Animation.
