X-Men: Dark Phoenix director Simon Kimberg spoke about the film and dismissed rumors that Jessica Chastain’s character was a female version of the Mental Master.

“Jessica will not be the Mental Master, but we will see elements of how the Mental Master manipulates Jean Gray. Jessica’s character brings different elements from various characters in the comics. She is an alien, something never seen in the X-Men films before – but is something that has always been a fundamental part of the Black Phoenix plot, so I think we can’t repeat what they did in X-Men: The Final Showdown and ignore that. We had to incorporate that. There is a part that goes on in space, and the incident that transforms Jean happens in space. And then there are forces that come from space because of that moment “, he said.

Take the opportunity to check out the trailer:

Black Phoenix, as we know, focuses on one of the most powerful mutants in the X-Men universe, Jean Gray. The film must be an adaptation of the arc The Dark Phoenix Saga, which is considered one of the greatest stories of the X-Men. The feature film X-Men: The Final Showdown was also based on this arc.

The team’s last film was X-Men: Apocalypse which depicts the character En Sabah Nur, better known as Apocalypse, who considers himself the oldest mutant on the planet. Another film in the franchise, The New Mutants, won its first trailer, but was postponed.
