Cursed – The Legend of the Lake, Netflix’s new series with Katherine Langford (13 Reasons Why) in the lead role, is inspired by a book written by Thomas Wheeler and illustrated by Frank Miller, the same creators of the impending audiovisual version.
The work is a spin-off of King Arthur focusing on the character Nimue, a heroine destined to become the Lady of the Lake who will join the hero of the ancient legend to complete the difficult mission of finding Merlin and handing him an ancient sword. .
The synopsis of the original work on Amazon brings more details about the plot:
“Whoever wields the sword of power will be the only true king.
But what if the sword chooses a queen?
Nimue grew up as an outcast. Her connection with black magic made her something to be feared in her Druid village, and it left her desperate to leave …
That is, until his entire village is slaughtered by the Red Paladins, and Nimue’s destiny is changed forever. In charge of her dying mother to gather an ancient sword with her legendary sorcerer, Nimue is now the only hope for her people. Her mission leaves little room for revenge, but the growing power within her can think of little else.
Nimue joins a charming mercenary named Arthur and refugee Fey Folk from all over England. She wields a sword aimed at the only true king, fighting against the paladins and armies of a corrupt king. She struggles to unite her people, avenge her family and discover the truth about her destiny.
But perhaps the only thing that can change one’s destiny is found at the tip of a blade. “
