The Witcher debuts on December 20 on Netflix.
‘The Witcher‘it’s coming, and more and more we have material available to show.
This time, an unpublished clip revealed an epic sword-fighting scene that will be featured in the Netflix.
The Wizard Geralt of Rivia (Henry Cavill) appears fighting the soldiers of Cintra at the banquet of the castle of Calanthethe grandmother of Ciri.
Tomek Bagiński, executive producer responsible for ‘The Witcher‘, said something that can make fans of the saga a little sad.
According to a recent interview by the artist ComicBook, the series will not fully adapt the book ‘The Last Wish‘, first in the franchise written by Andrzej Sapkowski. The reason is simple: it would be a lot.
“In fact, books were a much bigger source than we could include in eight episodes. So, we need to be very careful when choosing which stories we want to tell. And Lauren [S. Hissrich, a showrunner] did an excellent job. Not only choosing the right stories to tell about Geralt, but also providing context for Yennefer and Ciri.
Because, for us, the goal has always been to tell a bigger story. A great story comes before the saga – and the saga in question is not only about Geralt and his friends, but also about Yennefer, Ciri; we knew we needed to build these characters sooner. ”
The plot revolves around the wizard Geralt of Rivia (Henry Cavill), a monster hunter who gets rid of huge pests for good money. Mutant, he struggles to find his place in a world in which people are often more cruel than the creatures he faces. The wizard also has an adopted daughter, Ciri, an important character in books and games who also acts as a warrior and sorceress.
Andrzej Sapkowski, author of the books on which the games and the series are based, will act as a script consultant. Tomasz Bagiński, who directed the introduction videos for the three games in the video game series, will direct at least one episode of the debut season.
The series is under the command of showrunner Lauren Hissrich.
