After the controversy with old tweets by James Gunn about rape and other topics and the resignation of Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy director. Celebrities are speaking out in support of Gunn. They claim the tweets were old and no longer reflect the director’s personality.
Check out some of the tweets in defense of Gunn:
“Marvel: Recontract James Gunn – sign the petition. Because if people are punished, despite the change, then what does that teach others about assuming their mistakes and evolving? This man is one of the good guys,” Selma Blair.
“I don’t believe Disney is doing this to James Gunn. This zero-tolerance culture needs to stop,” Fede Alvarez.
“1. I hope it goes without saying that I love and support my brother James. And I am very proud of how kind, generous and compassionate he is to the people in his life, whether they are his friends, family, colleagues, fans or strangers, “Sean Gunn.
Check out some of the controversial tweets:
“Laughter is the best medicine. That’s why I laugh at people with AIDS.”
“I just made a joke about raping my friend when she was sleeping.”
“I wanted to hunt large animals, but I know that this is morally questionable.
So I’m going after hunting for someone to rape! “
Gunn spoke up apologizing and claiming that he changed: “Many people who have followed my career from the beginning know that I saw myself as a provocative person, making films and telling jokes about outrageous topics and taboos. As I have spoken openly before, I developed as a person, as well as in my work and in my mood! I am a very different person. Anyway, this is the truth: I used to make offensive jokes. I don’t do it anymore. “.
In Gunn’s resignation statement, Disney stated: “The offensive attitudes and statements discovered on James’s Twitter are unjustifiable and inconsistent with the studio’s values, so we ended our professional relationship with him.”
