Brad Bird is a successful director and screenwriter in the animation business and is currently preparing for the premiere of his latest film, The Incredibles 2, due out later this month. In an interview, io9, however, stated that although he worked on the sequels of The Incredibles, he is not at all interested in making sequels for Ratatouille and The Iron Giant, other films that he signs the direction.
“You know, I feel like this story has already been told,” says Bird in relation to Ratatouille. “They said that I need to make an Iron Giant 2, but that I would need to redo everything and apparently nobody wants anything new again. I’m a little bit at odds with society about this. I would like to do some new things,” he says.
On The Incredibles 2, he comments: “It worked, but I feel like I did my job in Ratatouille. I did my Mission: Impossible and I did my Iron Giant. And that’s it. I’m not mad at the comments , but it seems like the only thing people want now is for you to repeat what you just did. ”
However, he is still grateful that the public is interested in continuations of his films and takes it as a compliment: “This is cool, but it kind of reminds me of when my boys were little and I gave them a little push and they start screaming” again! “It’s a good thing, but also, from the artist’s point of view, it’s a little frustrating. What if I want to make a western movie? Would there be any support for that idea? What if I wanted to make a musical? What You know … there are other things to do. “, he concludes.
So we can take the horse out of the rain for sequences from other Bird films and enjoy The Incredibles 2 in theaters this month. Review the trailer:
