Creator of controversial games that mix irreverent humor, adult themes and adventures through unusual scenarios, such as those in the series Leisure Suit Larry, Al Lowe is the fifth international guest confirmed at the 12th edition of Brasil Game Show (BGS 2019), to be held between October 9th and 13th at Expo Center Norte, in São Paulo / SP.
Lowe will be present every day of the event and the public will be able to meet him on several occasions: at Meet & Greet Intel, where he will meet fans with photos and autographs, at BGS Talks, where he will speak of his professional career; at the BGS Summit, with a lecture aimed at professionals and market enthusiasts, in cosplay contests, as a judge, and at the Wall of Fame, where he will be honored and leave the mark of his hands.
Designer, programmer and musician, Al Lowe started his career in the electronic games industry in 1982, when he joined Sierra to work on developing games based on Disney movies and characters. In the early years, he supervised several elements of track design and graphics, until in 1986 he became chief programmer and was in charge of games like King’s Quest III and Police Quest. The following year, he created the first game in the series that would give him greater professional prominence: Leisure Suit Larry in the Land of Lounge Lizards, a game that won awards and the specialized press with a peculiar sense of humor and advanced graphics for the time.
He was responsible for other famous titles, such as Freddy Pharkas (1992) and Torin’s Passage (1995), until, in 1996, he launched Leisure Suit Larry 7, a libidinous adventure by the protagonist Larry Laffer for a very crazy cruise. Over the past few decades, Lowe has continued to work on new titles in his best-known series, launched the CyberJoke 3000, a daily newsletter that has already shared more than 8,000 jokes, and has dedicated itself to other projects as a writer, photographer, actor and executive producer.
