Ariana Grande, now mostly known for her work as a singer, started out on the market as an actress in a series and may be about to assume her first major cinematic role in the live-action remake of Hercules, currently under development by Disney.
In the special The Disney Family Singalong, promoted by ABC as a way to reconnect artists and fans in this period of social isolation, Ariana Grande released her voice on the track I Won’t Say (I’m in Love), solo of the character Meg in the 1997 animation.
Since then, fans have been clamoring for the pop diva to star in the new version of the film – and, it seems, the star appears to be willing to accept the proposal if it materializes.
“Ariana is a huge fan of Hercules and was very happy that the fans loved the version of I Won’t Say (I’m in Love) as much as she loved performing it, “said a source close to the singer to the Hollywood Life website.” Ariana started out in the musicals, so starring in a live-action remake of the film is not out of the realm of possibilities as far as her capabilities are concerned. She is totally flattered that fans think she should play Megara, but it is too early and nothing has been decided yet. “
Another source was also interviewed and says: “Ariana is obsessed with Disney and musicals, so that role would be great for her. It is still too early to say in one way or another, because they are nowhere near selecting the cast. But it’s definitely a big compliment that fans are pushing for it. “
The new version of Hercules was recently confirmed by Disney and all that is known at the moment is that Anthony and Joe Russo, from Avengers: Endgame (2019), will be the directors of the film. The cast has not yet been defined and, with the public’s positive reactions, Ariana Grande may even be nominated for the role.
