So far, Prime Video has been associated with a direct competitor for such movie services as Netflix, with a platform centered around VoD production. However, according to reports from the Protocol website, the website may soon change its face. Amazon has published several job offers that suggest that Prime Video will be enhanced with a linear television section.

In the description of one of the positions you can read that Amazon is looking for an employee able to redefine the way in which viewers watch linear television broadcasts broadcast in the 24/7 model. The person employed in this position would be responsible for designing a new way of functioning of programs broadcast in real time. This is not the only announcement in which Amazon mentions the enrichment of Prime Video’s offer with linear broadcasts, and according to journalists from Protocol, Amazon representatives are conducting extensive talks on obtaining licenses for third-party broadcasts.

It is worth mentioning that the corporation has some experience in the linear transmission industry. In 2014, the company acquired Twitch, a streaming mogul. Through this platform and Prime Video broadcasts NFL Thursday Night Footbal games, and from June 29 will start twitch broadcast of Premier League matches.

Entering the linear television market would certainly make Amazon’s offer more attractive against the competition. In a few months we will see how high-flying words about the desire to revolutionize the industry will translate into reality.
