Few believed in his success, but Aladdin’s remake worked so well that a sequel has just been made official by Disney!
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Aladdin 2 is already in development and has John Gatins and Andrea Berloff currently working on the script for the new film.
Guy Ritchie is expected to return to directing, as the atrocities Mena Massoud, Naomi Scott and Will Smith are expected to reprise the roles of Aladdin, Jasmine and Genius, but that information has not yet been confirmed.
Based on the 1992 animation, in turn inspired by the tale of Thousand and One Nights, the first film deals with the story of a thief who finds a magic lamp, whose genius offers him three wishes.
Remember the trailer for Aladdin (2019):
It is not yet known what the plot of the second film will be, but two theories exist: The first one would be to adapt Aladdin: The Return of Jafar, 1994 animation that is the direct continuation of Aladdin. The second, but most likely, would be to explore other tales of Thousand and One Nights, attributing more characters from Middle Eastern folklore to the Disney saga.
There is no preview yet.
More information is expected to be released soon.
