13 Reasons Why, one of Netflix’s most popular and controversial series, is about to return for the release of its fourth and final season.
However, unlike the previous ones, which had 13 episodes, the last phase of the series will have only 10 chapters.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Brian Yorkey, showruner for the series, explains why:
“It served the story better, and 10 episodes ended up being the sweet spot for us. I think 10 episodes is a good length for one season. I was convinced, in the second season, that there had to be 13, because the show is called 13 Reasons Why. But if I’m a young viewer, I’m like “13 reasons why, but there are only 10 episodes.” But right now, in season four, it was like, “We gave them at least 39 reasons, so I feel that we can say, yes, the show is still called 13 Reasons Why, but this season is 10 episodes. ”It’s the right number, you’ll see that when we get to the end.”
